Oh yes! Sorry, forgot! Prepositions are very difficult in English, so don't worry, but it should be:

speak + to + somebody ('speak with' is when it's a serious talk)
e.g. I spoke to him.

ask + (somebody) + infinitive with 'to' (no preposition)
e.g. I asked him to help me.

translate + (something) + into + something (movement - like get into and out of a car)
e.g. Can you translate this into Spanish?

Also, this is all British English. American English is different in many ways. Both are acceptable, as are Australian, Canadian, Irish etc.
