My romantic side says it's not silly to move after your love. After all, we are all here only once! My hubby moved here after love and like I've understood, he hasn't had any regrets whatsoever
He says he would never go back to the UK. That's how much he loves it in Finland! We've had our ups and downs like anybody else, but since we both decided to make it, we've always pulled it through.
My realistic side reminds now though, that it's not always champagne and roses and especially in the first stages once the partner has moved to a new country, it can get tough once the daily realities hit (finding a job, learning the language, paying bills etc.)
If you have your finances sorted, have the right attitude and what's most important, are sure about your love - do it!
I don't think there's many differences between genders. What counts maybe more is the age. Often the young don't have a single worry about the future whereas the older ones have more experience and they are more aware of the realities of life. The young have all their life still ahead and they can move and get, for example, jobs easier.
When you find your love - go for it! When your heart feels fine, you are fine
