The Finnish population grew by 14,800 people between January and July. An influx of foreigners has helped accelerate population growth.
At the end of July 5,315,280 people lived in Finland, according to preliminary information released by Statistics Finland. In the January to July period the population grew by 14,800 people. By the end of July 15,150 persons moved to Finland from abroad, whereas only 6,550 moved away.
Births are also on the rise. Between January and July 35,200 children were born, which is 650 more than during the same period last year.
