World Village Festival in Helsinki - Maailma kylässä festivaali

by on 4th-September-2010 at 10:15 PM
The World Village Festival in Helsinki is an annual event since 1995 and I think the main reason people going there is because of the variety of food you can find there e.g. Chinese, Indonesian, Cameroon, Turkish, Indian and many more.

The festival is also a great opportunity if you like to find accessory for your outfit. You can find necklaces, rings, clothes etc. and there is plenty of food from different places in the world.

Art Nouveau and Design in Helsinki

by on 4th-September-2010 at 10:04 PM
If you walk around in Helsinki, you may realize that Art Nouveau has a great influence on the architecture.

My favourite building in Helsinki is the Pohjola Insurance Building designed by Eliel Saarinen and built in 1901.

    But what is Art Nouveau?
Art Nouveau, also known as Jugendstil (German for 'youth style'), is an international movement and style of art, architecture and applied art—especially the decorative arts—that peaked in popularity at the turn of the 20th century (1890–1905).

A reaction to academic art of the 19th century, it is characterized by organic, especially floral and other plant-inspired motifs, as well as highly-stylized, flowing curvilinear forms.

Art Nouveau is an approach to design according to which artists should work on everything from architecture to furniture, making art part of everyday life.

    World Village Festival Helsinki

by on 24th-May-2009 at 05:08 PM
Today, I have been to the World Village Festival in Helsinki and I think the main reason people going there is because of the variety of food you can find there e.g. Chinese, Indonesian, Cameroon, Turkish, Indian and many more.

However, this year the weather was really great. It was sunny and we had 19 C (ok if you are from a southern Country then this is not that much but for Finland it is great).

The festival is also a great opportunity if you like to find accessoirs for your outfit. You can find necklaces, rings, clothes etc. from different places in the world.
