So as everybody knows, this community is mainly focused on giving informations to foreigners who would like to travel to Finland.
So, I will share my experience with everyone! When I was in Finland this summer, I wrote a journal entry everyday so I could remember what I did, how I felt, etc etc. but first of all, I think I should just explain some stuff about BEFORE the trip.
Finland was this goal I really wanted to achieve. since a really young age, I had a strong connection with Finland, and I felt like I had to go there one day. Once and for all, I decided that on the summer of my 18th birthday, I would go to Finland as an exchange student, because I believe there is not better way to get to know the culture than living in a native family.
At age 14, I was already decided I would go to Finland. I started learning the language at 15, by myself, for about 2 years. I spoke a lot with finns over internet, asking questions about the culture and language, and they all have been really nice and caring person. Last summer, a Finn came to Montreal to learn french, and he sent me couple of emails beforehand asking me questions about the city/culture/language. When he arrived here, we met, and became really good buddies. So we made there french/finnish meetings and talked in our foreign language. He knew about my trip to Finland and was really enthousiastic about it.
