Yea, I thought that these aren't probably just our problems, especially when the world is so small nowadays, one country's problems are soon in the other countries too.

I've actually thought a lot about what is the reason why so many people here are badly depressed, but actually there's so many possible reasons that I haven't figured it out yet. We really are very happy country, but you know, it's the human nature which always makes the problems even if everything would really be fine.
The thing which worries me, is that these days, and probably in the future too the people seems to search the answers to
their problems from the TV, like from the teleprogrammes like Dr. Phil or Oprah and I think it's reeeeally stupid.
Okay, those people like Dr. Phil etc. have probably read many books and are very intelligent, but in the end it's just busines. Instead of watching those, I think the people should read and search the old wisdoms of their
ancestors.
I've tried to read a lot about old Finnish phrases, wisdoms etc. and have asked those from my mother. They really are clever.

I don't know do you know, but at least in my family and as far as I know many other Finns too really appreciates the thing called common sence. The parent's responsibility is to teach it to their children that it'll come from their backbone (as we say) when needed. But now when people only watch the TV etc., don't have proper parents teaching and don't heard the wisdoms of the old people ('cause they're locked in the hospitals), they don't have it anymore. And there the problems comes and fast.

About the anorexia and bulimia, I just watched a program where they said that these were common already in the Roman Empire, when the women wanted to be more beautiful or then their parents didn't give food to them because they thought their child was too fat. So it's really old illness and that was kind of a surprise for me. But anyways I think my friend's will be better soon. I also think that the hardest thing in all this is that when your friends are feeling ill and talks all of their problems to you, you also start to get depressed, especially when you've your own problems too.
And sometimes I don't really understand my friends at all, but don't worry I also have many of those so called "normal friends", so it's okay.

I think that the people thinking about suicide is very common here, at least in our school and in the other schools where I've friends. And I can tell that those people who really are in a very bad shape, aren't quiet about how they are feeling. The problem is that the people around aren't listening.
I've seen many cases when somebody have been teasing someone and have been so stupid that haven't realise how bad feeling he/she is doing to the another person. They understand it later, when the person who is teased (etc.) for example makes a story about his/her life or keeps a talk in front of the class about his/her feelings and then the accident is already happened.
And the public healthy system here is at the moment in a very bad condition so it's really hard to get help. Luckily they're going to make some law now that it'd start to work again...

Oh, I had heard about that at present the German kids are a bit lazy to study
the languages in the school (I've one 19 year old German girl and one 18 year old boy as a netfriends) but I didn't know that the situation is THAT bad...
But at least they're still alive and when they get older and will (hopefully) get familiar with some truths of this world, they still have another change.

I really hope that the both goverments of us will even try to do something to these problems. However in the end the people are usually those who has to make the final move.

That was really interesting to here where you live, but I'm sorry about your granny, it must have been hard to you to move in to her house.
I've actually once visited in Köln when I went to Bonn to Miyavi's (one artist I really like) gig.
I loved the city, especially the Köln's cathetral was AMAZING. There ain't anything like that in Finland. I also saw the Rein.<3

Thank you for this interesting conversation and ofcourse I'm not tired to write with you!!! Don't even think about it! I also hope that you'll be happy there and someday be able to come to Finland!

Hyvä perse = good/nice ass (but just that you know, if someone would say that to me: *BITCHSLAP*)
Hyvä peppu = good bum (not so bad)
uuu, mikä chiksi = uuu, what a chick (young people's slang)
nätti tyttö = pretty girl (this is fairly acceptable)
kaunis tyttö = beautiful girl (this too)
Ihan vitun hyvä perse = fucking's good ass (don't even think about)
koree gimma = showy chick (young people's slang)

Finland is full of these and I don't have the patience to write all of them, it depends about the dialect...especially we young people have many of those xD

But seriosly, you should reeeaally watch to who you use these, I'd at least get VERY angry XD

Hehe, I didn't actually even thought you'd be a guy like that, but just thought to warn you anyways^^
It's okay to speak the street language, if you ask me, the spoken Finnish is much easier than the formal, and your tongue knots (?) easily when speaking the formal, at least with me, when I sometimes try to speak formal Finnish, young people's slang and adult's Finnish mixed and then hearing same time about three different dialects from the teachers at school for example...xD







Oh, I'm so sorry, but I'm sure you'll still be able to speak Finnish online some day...I'm sure there's some way

I am so happy to read from you again. I thought you stay at your mökki all summer long without any possibility to connect to the forum. I would have been quite alone here. So it's good to see that you're there...
Thanks again for correcting my mistakes. I've realized now that I make the same mistakes over and over again. That's really annoying for myself, I don't want to think about how it must be for you . It seems that the possessive suffix and the perfect are my biggest problems. Probably I'm still thinking in a way which is too "German" (just to give it a name). Otherwise I cannot explain. Well ok, so far I haven't had any exercises in perfect. That will be treated in the next chapter of my book, I think. Concerning the suffixes there haven't been any exercises at all. It was just mentioned that you can use it or leave it. But anyway, I'm still looking for this button in my mind to switch off German thinking. It already works with other languages, so why not with Finnish? Maybe I'm too hard to myself and it's simply too early to be able to think in Finnish. And Finnish is not the easiest language. So Astrid, be patient!!
Have I already told you that I bought a new grammar book two weeks ago? This book is really good. I understand a lot more now than I did before, for example the partitive. I should have bought it earlier! I've already seen that there are (large) chapters on possessive suffixes and the perfect. So there's a lot to be read the next few weeks. I hope that it will finally help.
Concerning the chat I would really love to use this possibility, esp. with you. But besides the time I think I still would have problems in speaking. I'm not advanced enough. I would not have minutes to think about what I'm going to say next. Even a dictionary wouldn't help, it would take too much time. So I think it's better to wait. But you're right: there will be some day...
One last thing: A few days ago I wrote a little story (see: Stories). I would appreciate if you'd read this text, too, and send a comment about the mistakes. I'm a bit afraid about my "most favourite" mistakes. And this time I also used the conditional (uff!) as if I haven't enough problems with Finnish grammar. But nevertheless I think it's an effective way to learn.
