Starting a business in Finland

We are hoping to move back to Finland within a year or so and we would like to work together, as I don't speak Finnish. My husband does. We're looking for ideas as to what sort of business we can open. What's needed that we can provide? We'll look at businesses for sale as well but it would be nice to start something of our own. We've both done a variety of things and are pretty versatile. Anyone have any ideas? Oh, and we don't care where we live either. Could be Helsinki, could be Rouvaniemi or anywhere else.

And that should read Starting a business in Finland.

business in finland

Hi peni,
good for you, there are many things you can start in Finland, depending where of course, you do have one advantage that your hubby speaks the lingo,
What are your hobbys? and waht does your OH do now, does your OH hold a finnish passport, if so it make life a hel got easier.but the paper work is formal and a lot, but nothing that causes probñems. Finns loves Food, may be a idea to open a Australian dinner or so?

If you want any tips pm me as you know I have moved here just short of a year ago, and have a holidays resort with small restaurant.

Nutrimetics is ladies skin care and make up that is sold with party plan. I just used it as an example. There are lots of diiferent party plan type businesses here in Australia and I was wondering if it was the same in Finland. Tupperware is a definite possibility if I can talk my husband into doing parties with me. He can translate.

Hey that's not a bad idea! You could do that Peni!

What about a coffee shop that serves lamingtons, pavlova (made with lactose free cream of course), Australian coffee... It wouldnt have to be an extensive menu - it would be best to have a simple high quality menu.

What do you think?

A definite possibility Lisa. We've talked about it a bit but we're not sure it would be enough. It does deserve further investigation although, I prefer Finnish kahvia ja pulla!!!
