Thread: summer trip to Finland

Seriously now; not one comment from anyone about any of these locations??

OK, well in a couple months I'll be able to tell all of you about these places!

Ok I have been to Santa Claus Village, and Oulu and several places but not as a tourist. But they are nice.
Santa Claus Village is very comercial and its just that if you go to Lapland you have to see Santa, what ever time of year it is, Its always Christmas there even in July, you hear Jingel Bells and see the reindeers.
So its just a thing, also Rauna Zoo is great , all year round.
A tip you drive a lot of Km¨s in finland / lapland as everything is so far apart.

I've just booked our Rovaniemi visit at Christmas time. Sooo.... I will tell you about it Ravvy when I get back. I wont be seeing it in the summer though.

Hi Ravvy, I've been to Santa Claus Village but in the wintertime. It was really magical in the wintertime snow in December. Not sure how it is in the summertime. I'm sure it's still beautiful though

When I met Santa Claus it was such an amazing experience. He is such a warm and welcoming person.

I have been in the Arktikum Santa Claus Village and Lordi restaurant. The Santa Claus village is a bit of a tourist trap, lots of little shops selling Christmas trinkets, the usual stuff, but there is good quality souvenirs there too. Dont foregt to get letters sent by Santa to your kids, they will love it.

The building itself is nice so you should get some nice photos. Crossing the arctic circle is not as exciting as its made out to be, basically its a red line in the ground with a plaque describing it, but you can get some nice photos there too. It is a good day out and if you plan ahead, you can get some nice christmas presents for your relatives. I cant remember Santamus, but I ate somewhere in the Santa centre, but tbh food is good everywhere in Finland.

I was in the Lordi Restaurant in March, it was very cold outside but nice inside, however I was only in the Rock bar, there were 4 bars there in total. Its a strange place, I think that I have described it somewhere else in this forum.

Even though it will be the summer when you arrive, I recommend going to the Reindeer farm, or perhaps taking a boat ride on the Ounasjoki river. Rovaniemi is a real outdoor paradise in the Summer, I like it there. A walk along the river in the evening when the sun is setting is very nice too. I was in Rovaniemi 2 years ago during the summer, it was not very warm at all, the year before, I was there too and it was very hot. So be prepared!
