Default Helsinki for 6 hours - what to do?

Hello everybody!

My son and myself are going to arrive at 2 p.m. in Helsinki and our connection flight to India is going to leave a 8 p.m. So, we are wondering what to do with the time in Helsinki. We found out that there is a bus circulating between the airport and the center and that we could take tram no. 3 to visit the sights of Helsinki.
Is it worth to go into town or is it rather stressy to catch the connection flight? Is it possible to book a sightseeing tour that doesn't take too long?
We are grateful for every reply.
Kind regards from Austria,
Anachronist

the city is not very big so you might be able to see some of the main attractions if you plan everything well in advance. From the airport to the bus it just takes about 30-40 minutes.

I'd rather spend those hours in town than at the airport.

In Helsinki there's LOADS to do and see!
As Snow already mentioned the downtown itself is rather small, so you can easily walk around. The tram 3 trip is alright, but I'd rather go to the sea trip for couple hours.

This is taken from Royal Line - Suomen tasokkain saaristolaivasto

The cruise is 1,5 hours.

Royal Line ships sail from Kauppatori which is in the end of Esplanadi Park.

I hope you enjoy your day at my home town as it's TOTALLY worth it
