I am also going to Findland to study in September.
It is really expensive country..to compare with London ist too expensive. In London it was enough 20-30 pounds for food coocking by my self.
And there, i really surprised with such high prices.
in my country i spend 160-200 per month that includes living cost, food, traveling, and leasure.

I guess I'll find out too, maybe we meet there.
Sounds like you are also going there for study? Which university?

    Hi,

I haven't really counted what I pay for food each month, but it is about twice as much as in Germany for the same stuff

At the cantine at my company a lunch menu is about 5.50€, which is quite expensive and often it is not very good. Because of that we go to the cantine of the Laurea University for lunch. There you pay 2.60€ for your meal and the state pays the rest. Works normally only if you are a finnish student, which I am not. But nobody wanted to see my student card so far

I also live in a student apartment (shared with 2 roommates) and pay around 220€/month for 18m²

Helsinki? That sounds good, I was also told to shift to Helsinki after one semester, I'll see what I do, actually I just like simple quiet life, maybe Kokkola is better for me, hehe

So you are already working there? Is it easy to find a full time job after education?

Veggies and fruits get more cheap in the summer when the supply equals the demand. From late autumn to late spring we mostly have imported fruits and vegetables as it is not worth the while to produce them here. You can although get domestic products all year around but they cost a lot. Normal fruits are relatively cheap here. Apples between 1-3 euros per kil ( Honey crunch, Fuji, Granny Smith etc ) , bananas (Chiquita and Fair Trade) the same. Oranges (mostly Spanish and Israeli) and mandarins as well. Supermarkets beat market prices and the cheapest supermarket here is the German chain Lidl. My household of 2 ppl manage with 200-250 euros per month for food and then we purchase without a 2nd thought. By calculating, going for offers I'd say youäll manage with a 150 per month for food. It's the free time activities that cost here. Cinematickets from 8 to 13 euros, coffee/tea/soda 2-4 euros. Hopefullythis clarified a bit =)

    Hi,

I'm just doing an internship in Finland for about half a year, so I don't know how hard it is to get a fulltime job after education. I still have some education to do before getting my degree
Getting this internship was pretty easy though, but this is another story.

I see you in South Finland, right? I'm going to Kokkola, which is in middle, will the cost be somehow same as south? I like apple very much, also I need vegetable every day, for my meal, so supermarket is much cheaper? Then I'll go there for shopping, hehe... Thanks a lot for the info!

Internship is necessary for a student? We have to do some internship before graduation?
