    Hey parkmen,

Nice sharing about your snow experience I like it!
And... if you visit Finland in winter, it'll be fine if you keep staying inside. Because every building in the city has very good central heating system. (Except those cabins in deep forest.) So if you visit Helsinki, you'll just need to prepare good clothes for outside building situations. When walking on the streets (-4C), I wore a down coat inside and a GORTEX coat outside, and I didn't feel cold at all, ... even sweating... but I looked quite stupid on streets 'cause no one wear as weird as I did.

I'm from subtropics and I'd never forget the feeling of thrilling cold the very first time I walked out of that door of Vantaa airport. Unforgettable excitement (Just for me!)

    Dear folks,

Remember I said I was cooking some laid-back topic here? Yes, I got some ideas. But all of them are irrelevant to the title "Snow experience". So, if it's okay for you guys and the arbitrator/administrator of this forum, I'll start to write whatever I like here. (or,... maybe arbitrator could help me move this thread to other place. ... ... and, I got a bunch of good jokes from British edition FHM, if you guys're interested, just let me know.) And... ... if anyone want to say anything irrelevant to the topic of this threat started by me, it'll be ok for me, too! As I said, we're not on a Finnish bus here, ... ... silence ain't good... ...

Okey-doke, the first interesting thing I'd like to try to talk about is "drinking alcohol". Yes, we all know drinking culture thrives in Finland. The educated, non-educated, the professional, non-professional, the rich, the poor, Finns and foreigners. Many of us are connected by ALKOHOLI.

For maintaining my regular sleep and safety, I have to force myself not to drink at night and only do it in my flat. Usually it'll be the Saturday morning, as usual, I get up at 7:00am, take out my 80% chocolate, cheese, fragrant strawberry(good with fructose), then open my favorite Longmorn whiskey, start to drink all my problems away. Yes, for that moment, I FEEL ALIVE! Recently I would do it while reading vivid interesting comments on different forums, or playing PS3, watching a DVD or TV, etc.

So, how about you guys?... like, what brand of beer or whiskey you like? When and where would you do it? What do you do while drinking, etc.

Just say whatever you want! Thanks

I don't drink much at all. Every now and then I'll have a cocktail when I eat dinner at a restaurant or the odd glass of wine. My husband is a Finn and he drinks less than me. Not all Finns are koskenkorva drinkers.

    Dear Peni,

I got it. You're right! Definitely not all, yet... SOME of us pretty like drinking. I'd like to order Margarita or Long Island when eating outside, too.

Again, if it's not appropriate to write these here, please help me move my thread to other place! Thanks.

as a truck driver here in finland, i have to suffer most of my days unloading in the cold, its not so nice, your head hurts with the cold, nose freezes, feet always cold which is very unplesent, also when my friend came to visit from ireland, he could only stand max 1 hour outside. trendyness doesnt come into how you dress, as when i came into my first winter i refused to wear LONGJOHNS, this didnt last too long, now i dont care what i look like, being warm is more important than looking trendy... but i also have to say that when i drove tourist busses around helsinki in the winter, i was very surprised how the girls dressed, (mini skirts, high heel shoes no socks, very skimpy clothes) so i thing the girls are more glamor concious than the fellas.
