    Dear Mr. Phil6204,
Thanks for telling me, the idiot traveler from subtropics, a little bit of the situation there. And if I were you, I wouldn't give trendiness a shxt, either. Not catching a serious cold in winter would be the most important thing for me. And,... I don't know whether it works, but I would try to put on my ski-mask to cover all my face up,... to avoid exposing my nose in the cold air and the breath might be warmer and moister,... easier to inhale, I guess.
About those chic chicks,... except they less fear the cold inherently, I guess the peer pressure is another big factor to make them dress and act like that. This kind of situation is more obvious in big cities like Helsinki, Tampele, etc. If you go to some rural towns in Lapland, you might find people dress less trendy and treat people much gentler as well.

This's is my FAVORITE single malt scotch whiskey...
    Longmorn Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Longmorn, when unplugging and pouring out, the fragrance of wheat immediately fill my little room. Sip a bit of it and hold it in my mouth for a while, and then drink it... The aroma always stays. I guess this is the difference between drink vodka and scotch. When drink vodka, you just keep on drinking and drinking and drinking.

Someone told me the most favorite drink in Finland is "ilmainen viina". If it's available, everyone wants to drink it!

Well, can someone give me a link of this recommended "ilmainen viina"? What kind of alcohol is it?

    Default snow experience

Okay lets talk snow, as I dont drink.
I moved to Lapland last April, after visiting it for afew years. Okay, this is my 1st real winter here, its great it cant get cold enough for me, i have had -39º one year I was here, I have had -28º a few weeks ago, then i wear my termal suit, most people do here up north when the temp gets to -15º its good it keeps you warm, now I dont have to catch a bus or so, but still drive a car which sometimes has a few layers of snow on that so you need your suit just to clear it, then start the engine and heat up the car, during the time its parked its pluged in for the motor heater. I also have 8 dogs that keep to go out , and i have a few reindeers that need food these are things that are daily things. it is so cold that your nose hairs start to freeze, that is a sign that its cold. apart from that I love it. As long as you have the right gear to wear its good.
Its great to see the snow sparkel on the ground, also what is cool is to take a soak in a HOT TUB with -20º its fantastic, in 40º hot water and its freezing out side while its snowing and the steam fogs up everything and it turns into ice, now that is a snow experience.
I can go on for ever, but i dont want to bore you all.

    Dear Shanaya,
Your comment about snow is the BEST one here in this kind of boring forum so far. I like your description and enthuse on reading it carefully. I also find your business in Lapland (lentssons-suomunhelmi). So,... if I can make it someday, one way or another, I'll bring my friends to patronize your business. How about that?
When I was in Levi, Lapland, YES, it's one of the best period in my life. The CLEANEST air on earth, great silence while lying down on the snow... I also saw a woman wear a special kind of suit, kind like SCUBA diving suit, jogging on the snow ground. I don't know exactly what that suit is. Is that your thermal suit? I remember it was about -2C. I am a jogging person as well so I really want to jog as she did,... enjoying the vibration of intense breathing on the vast white snow land.
About your dogs, are they Siberian Husky? And,... are they simply your working dogs or also friends? I was planning to give it a try of Husky sled, but the traveling schedule was too tight to realize my Husky sled experience.
About your reindeer, I took some reindeer photos in the album of my profile here in this forum. They are really shy animals, aren't them? It took me a lot of time to take a fine shot of them. Anyway, no one can deny their cute big eyes, and their graceful postures on the snow.
Just write pages and pages if you have time, I'll always love to read them.

    William

Default continuing the drinking topic :)

Some of you folks don't drink and are not interested in drinking topic. I know! Just don't read my thread!!! BUT, my thread in another forum talking about drinking is just thriving and HOT. Understanding why people would like to drink and enjoy one's life through drinking is not bad as well. SO, I won't stop especially many of us are so connected by it. Another reason I'm doing so is because this forum is just starting its development. And comparing to other forums, it's relatively boring. So, I'll keep on talking and talking and talking, to help this forum.

In my place, the price of one bottle of Macallan 18 yr is equivalent to three bottles of Longmorn 15 yr.) Just,... the clerk of that whiskey shop I've usually patronized told me that because Macallan is so famous and sold so well, and actually Macallan couldn't provide such large market. Therefore, these days they have to decrease a bit of the quality so as to sustain the quantity. Do you agree with this, or it's just a rumor?

Finlandia vodka and Stolishnaya vodka, which one do you prefer?
Before I visited Finland, I thought Stolishnaya is pretty good. I usually keep it in the freezer of refrigerator, and swallow it with a shock cup. You know, cold liquid flowing through the gullet, and then,... a fire comes up from the stomach. But, after taste Finlandia vodka (50% alcohol, 1.7l), I think Finlandia wins! It's even smoother.

A Finnish friend told me that Finlandia is often said to be bland and flavorless. This is due to the process, which is very refined and optimized and creates a very clean product, hence leaving the vodka "bland", whereas especially the Russian vodkas are done using older techniques and the quality varies as do the ingredients, so because of the lack of purity, they tend have more flavor. Whether the flavor is good or not is a whole other matter...

According to my previous experience, Vodkas is only for the purpose of getting drunk. So, I guess for that purpose I'll choose Finlandia. Unfortunately, I can't buy them in my place, but I can find Stolishnaya in my place. Haha~ I guess I have no choice. When drinking Russian Vodkas, it tastes a little bit bitter and strong. And,... if I don't freeze them, it won't be so smooth to swallow. However, when I drink it after freezing it, it's just too smooth and I'll get drunk and high too fast.

These days I prefer to drink and to get drunk alone, meanwhile, enjoying conversation and reading you folks' comments from forums to forums. In the past, I drink with my boss and my colleagues for engaging in social activities. Actually, I did like that because sometimes I can hear some true voice form my buddies when we were all pretty drunk. Buy later on, I found my buddies, boss and myself were always talking about the same shxt, enjoying the same pain and looking for the same identification of suffering in society all together.

Well, I'm almost 30 years old, and,... I find that I'm not that young to drink that much when I have to work tomorrow. I won't deny that I still wanna do so, just get so f**king drunk, spew and then keep on drinking and drinking and throwing all my shxt away. I really enjoyed that. But,... it also causes insomnia and hard to perform well on my work. Maybe it's just because I'm not so young anymore.

    Default Snow experience

    Hi,
I just dont understand why people have to drink so much, If you not happy with your life or what ever excuse you use to drink its a waste of money, seeing that the booze in Finland is not cheap, therefor spend you wellearned money on something usefull. The last time I was drunk was 31yrs ago, I was so sick for 3 days and realised how stupid I was i promised myself that I will never drink again, and I didnt. I find life to important to spend it drunk or merry, as I dont need drink to be merry.
What you do is your busnisses, but as you are still so young and so much life ahead of you dont waste it on this, Life is to short, enjoy it every day as to day is the last day for the rest of your life, you wont get a second chance.

I therefor will not take any part in disscussions on Booze, as I dont find it interesting and I havent come on this forum to disscuss it. The topic as I believe it was "Snow Experience" and not BOOZE.

    See ya,
    Shanaya

    Hi William,
Thank you for your feedback, no my dogs are not Huskies, just normal dogs, 2 German Shepards, 2 chichawawas ( never could spell that) 2 french bull dogs and mix of what ever. But they are as crazy in the snow as any, my little ones though are having problems ploughing through the high snow though so i have a painted a red point on their tails so I can find them.I also have 4 cats that too like ???? the snow up to a certain point.
My reindeers are not actually mine I have them in my corral I am minding them and feeding them its a tourist thing I have 4 but they are now eating out of my hand and I can pat them so I have made progess on that line, who said that reindeers are dumb, they certainly are not. They are so beautiful.
I hope to have 2 of my own this spring as I am promised one by a farmer so I hope he keeps his promise.
Further my life is quite normal, I enjoy everyday as it comes with its up.s or downs which we all have.
So tell me about your life here or where ever you are.

How could you not wonder when You don't understand why?

The last time I was drunk was 31yrs ago, I was so sick for 3 days and realised how stupid I was i promised myself that I will never drink again, and I didnt.
Good for you. I had have smoked for four years. I quited. There're only about 9% people can make it. So, when I wanna quit drinking, I'll quit it. But not now.

I find life to important to spend it drunk or merry, as I dont need drink to be merry.
Well, its not my business, yet,... I probably won't get married forever, either. The reason I wondering from forums to forums is because I have to learn more deeper about Finland before I make any stupid decision. You know, sometimes, something can only be learned through real contact. By this process, making some friends and having good conversation is good and fun as well.

What you do is your busnisses, but as you are still so young and so much life ahead of you dont waste it on this, Life is to short, enjoy it every day as to day is the last day for the rest of your life, you wont get a second chance.
True. And I'm not wasting a second of my life at all. And,... my heart is never young.

I therefor will not take any part in disscussions on Booze, as I dont find it interesting and I havent come on this forum to disscuss it. The topic as I believe it was "Snow Experience" and not BOOZE.
Well, as I said previously, this thread is started by me and it's in GOSSIP CORNER!!! So, I hope anyone, include you and me, can say whatever they want here.

    See you,

    William

You haven't told me about that thermal suit. Is there any link or keyword, so I can google it? About other things, I'm willing to tell you in private, if you're interested. Guessing your story will be more interesting than mine!
