Finnish = Mother tongue. Gotten a little rusty now, and I speak mostly "finglish". hehehe...

English = Been studying since I was 9. I learned a lot from watching TV and then I went to language school twice abroad and spent a year as an exchange student. Been living in the US for the past 9 years, so my English is fluent. I sometimes make silly mistakes, but that's only human.

Swedish = I used to be okay with it as I had to study it in school for 7 years, but it's gotten soooo rusty. I haven't spoken Swedish in years, but I think if I had to use it I'd be okay. I can understand more than I speak...

French = I studied French for 6 years in school. I can still understand a little, but that too has rusted soo badly that I'd probably get lost in Paris. ugh...

Spanish = Been forced to learn some words living in Florida. I can't converse in Spanish, but I wouldn't mind learning.

Spanish: it's my mother tongue.

English: I'm learning since I was 12 years old. I say learning because there's always something new to learn.

German: I just started the basic level

hmm... English is my native language but I'm from the North of England so don't even speak that properly (according to the Oxford Dictionary)

I studied French and German at school (many years ago), so can understand them OK and speak French OK if pushed. I'm a bit shy though at speaking most languages, except English where I'll not shut up - sorry I won't shut up

I went to Catalunya for a couple of years and picked up Spanish and Catalan. I can understand and read both but can only really speak Spanish. I didn't take any lessons which was a bit stupid but listening to classes of kids chatting all day soon puts the language(s) into your head!

I can read Swedish and understand if it's spoken slowly - Finlandsvenska is easier to understand and recently in Stockholm I found that I couldn't understand a word unless it was written down

And, last but not least Super Hard Finnish. It's strange this one. I've been studying hard and know the grammar pretty well but can still barely order a coffee! Everything is a bit backwards with hats inside heads and shoes inside feet etc. Still, now I'm here in Helsinki - 'maailman karuin kaupunki' - it's time to get practising.

Finnish: Mother tongue since I'm a native Finn. (I speak my own district's dialect (Nurmijärvi) also know some Helsinki slang, Turku dialect and Häme's dialect and ofcourse formal Finnish).

English: Have been studying at school for seven years (eighth year going at the moment)

Swedish: Have been studying three years at school (fourth year going at the moment and in the case it depends on me will be the last year^^)

French: have been studying six years at school and seventh year going, thought I really suck in French xD (It's SO difficult!!!!! Hardest I've ever studied)

Japanese: Three years now self studying with my big sister who's studied it about six years.

I'd also like to learn some Spanish, Italian, German, Latin and Saame.

Hehe, well it's not easy, but you know I think it's a bit different thing with me 'cause I'm Finn and they've made many examinations that Finns and Japanese people learn each other's languages faster than people from some other countries...
Japanese and Finnish have many very different and then also very similar things. For example there's many same words and it's easy at least to me to listen to Japanese 'cause when listening I could seperate all the words and letters easily after hearing Japanese only a few times (something I can't do in French for example at all). But in the other hand the writing system is totally different.
I've heard only Estonians spoken better Finnish than my Japanese friends without studying it a single year.
But it has also so complicated grammar that it takes some time...
