Books on Finland

I recently bought the book - 'Culture Shock! Finland', which I thoroughly enjoyed, and have to say I'd recommend to anyone who's interested in learning a little more about Finnish Culture. In fact it's worth a read even if you are quite knowledgable on the topic, just for the giggles it provides from pointing out some of the truths about the Finns and their nature.

It got me wondering whether there are other good books about Finland out there. Has anyone read any they'd recommend to others? Or perhaps point out which ones to avoid.

I thought that book was out of print.

I have read Finland cultural Lonewolf, that was also funny.

Finland - Culture Smart is also a good read.

I had heard 'Finland Cultural Lonewolf' was good. Infact it's mentioned in various chapters of 'Culture Shock!'. The copy I bought, I found online. It's been updated since it's first print and been modified to include more recent information up until 2007 now.

I've purchased both those books that were recommended, and have just finished 'Finland - Culture Smart'. A lovely little book to read through, very easy to pick up and finish, and didn't repeat itself quite as much as I found 'Culture Shock' did. Although it lacked the humour I found in the latter.

I plan to get stuck into 'Finland Cultural Lone Wolf' today, which looks a bit more heavy going than the previous two. A lot bigger, and after having a flick through the pages, I've stumbled across quite a few diagrams that look quite puzzling on first glance. Looking forward to seeing what they're all about.

Can anyone suggest some good books that cover history, or even works written by Finnish authors that are well known (and preferably have copies available translated into English)?

Lonely Planet: Finland?

A book I have on Finland is called Lonely Planet: Finland by Andy Sygminton. It is really good and has a small guide on vocabulary/phrases too.
