we didnt even change the time here. Why? because crazy americans with their crazy ideas decided that they would be unique and change time not the same day as the rest of the world. and Canadians (shivers) has to fallow everything the americans does. -_-

Daylight saving time was brought in to help the farmers get an extra hour of daylight during the second world war. It was actually invented in Germany, but used first in the UK.

We discussed ending the practice years ago, but it was decided to keep the system going so children would not have to walk to school in the dark.

Finnish winter

I fitted my engine block heater and my cabin heater for my truck a few days ago. Just have to get a timer so its all heated up in the morning. Wanna buy a tent to keep the truck in but they are so expensive.

The police will be checking for winter tyres soon so make sure you have them changed......

As Drummerac says, it is for that one simple reason - daylight saving, getting the most out of what little light exists. Might not apply to those living far up like Gammer though, its just total depressing darkness that far up. still, at least they have the wonderful long summer days.
