Hey guys
I'm Tiffany
How is everyone?
I can't wait to visit Finland!
I would love to learn more about the country and possibly learn the language
Has anyone here visited Finland or planning on visiting soon?![]()
Well I'll certainly be going this December. My ticket is for the 1st. I hope you like the cold! News reports say they'll have one of the coldest winters in record history! But they always seem to say that if you know what I mean. Like Australia seems to say we will have the hottest summer on record and then it rains a full month before December anyway...
I went to Finland for late spring and summer through to autumn last year. It was amazing, without a doubt compared to Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Russia and Switzerland it was definitely the best out of them all.
Why are you coming to Finland exactly? Just for a holiday?. Just remember that it's pretty expensive and if you have somewhere rent free to stay it'll save you 70% of your money

You're so lucky
Finland must be beautiful during the winter.
I have a friend who is from Finland and he says it gets extremely cold during the winter.
What do you do when you visit? Do you stay with family or hotel?
I want to visit some friends and see the landscape.....if that makes any sense :/
I heard it was expensive. I think it would be really cool to take a Scandinavian cruise, but I don't know if I could communicate. lol I'm a typical American... I only speak English![]()
Hey,
I can't wait either. I've heard so many goods things about Finland and the people there.
I'm a big fan of seeing different types of nature and culture, so I think it will be nice to go to Finland upcoming January. Last year I went for holiday to see France and went with some friends to Berlin and Prague, so I've seen a lot this year. But I still can't wait to come to Finland.
When do you want to come to Finland?
I'm staying with my fiancé. I have no family there and hotels are far too expensive.
Of course it does, that's what I did when I went there first. You should be ok, if you dress well and are friendly then everyone will be happy to talk to you. Finns from 14-28 can speak great English usually if they bothered to learn it at school, they're all just so shy. Remove that shy feeling and you'll all get along fine.
In Finland when I went the coldest it got was -22C this winter will be much colder. Probably down to -35C. So yes it is very cold and if you can't stand the cold you shouldn't come![]()
Hey like I said with your wall comment try and have someone to stay with and just share rent with them. Find a 2 room apartment or something and rent out one of the rooms, it gives you a lot of freedom and saves you a lot of money. Staying in Hostels and Hotels in the winter is basically impossible. I thought that I could do this as well but it was totally impossible. I was actually really lucky how my stay in Finland worked out. I stayed with a friend for 2 weeks before getting an apartment that my other friends had lined up for me. When I think about how lucky I was and such I would never go there again and trust that Hostels and Hotels would be ok. The accommodation at both is horrible, you're better off meeting someone whom you can live with for a few months and just sharing the cost of rent, it's much cheaper...
If you plan to stay in Hotels and such then I would come in the summer so you can at least camp. Or else you'll just run out of money in the first few weeks.
