My Very Own Introduction!
Hi! My name is Emily, though for a Finnish name I usually use Katariina (Riina) as a tribute to my great-grandmother, or Riikka, cos it sounds cute. I live in the Boston area of Massachusetts. My ethnic makeup is very varied, but we have a decent amount of Finnish (Karelian) ancestry. I don't use my real last name on the internet; it's Irish and so am I, but...I ended up using another old family name, Lidehäll or Liljedahl, which was adopted I suppose when the Swedes were in power, and later anglicised into Liddell. I pronounce it to rhyme with "fiddle", like Alice Liddell, the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's "Alice In Wonderland", who was born on my birthday. I'd know more if two world wars hadn't gotten in the way, or the Soviet Union, for that matter.
Anyway, enough of that introduction! I've got a serious question. Are there any clubs or resources or places to get food that are Finnish-related in the Boston area? I lived in Portland, Oregon, for a short while and it seemed there were many more resources there, but now that I'm back where I did most of my growing up, I want to see if there are any resources for a lonely Finn in Boston!
Thank you for any help you can give me!
