Thanks for the welcomes! This seems like such a great little website.. I've learned so much just from looking around!

The chat sounds great, I'll definitely check it out. To answer your question, I do have a good story about how I got interested in Finland. I signed up for a penpal on a random website a few months ago. Well, I got paired up with an awesome penpal from Finland! During those first few weeks of speaking with her, I got to know so much about Finland and the way of life there. I've met other Finns since then, and I've started to learn some Finnish as well. I've gotten letters and gifts from Finland, and I've even sent out some gifts from New York. I have to say.. I've been in love with Finland ever since! I hope to be in Finland in a year and a half from now.. well that's if I can save up enough money..

Reea, I must say your blogs about Finland are so interesting! I read all of the newest ones yesterday, and I see that you have posted more a few hours ago.. I'm off to read them now!

I really did love it there, and well as I said, I think it might be nice for others to hear from another foreigner how was their experience there.

hmm well if you are still under 18.8 years old in a year and a half, you could go to finland as an exchange student with this student exchange program called AFS. I went there this summer with AFS, and there were also a lot of Americans going there! it's fun because you live in a host family and you get even more in touch with the culture and language. I am not sure what is the price with the AFS USA office, but for me it was 3400 $ (canadian) + 2000$ for the funds raising. it covers the flight, the cruise to either Tallinn (Estonia) or Stockholm (Sweden), some insurances, and also a good service by the AFS volunteers from Finland and Canada. I stayed for 6 weeks there, during the summer.
