Yes, the movie is called Valo and it tells one story from the life of Aleksanteri Ahola-Valo. The movie is directed by Kaija Juurikkala in 2005, and is based on Koulupojan päiväkirjat (Schoolboys diaries), a series of stories in a diary-like form, written by Ahola-Valo himself. Good thing you brought up this one! It's an important true story and a good movie. Didn't remember the movie while making a list earlier in the thread.. A few more links: The movie: Valo (elokuva ? Wikipedia) Aleksanteri Ahola-Valo: Aleksanteri Ahola-Valo ? Wikipedia Schoolboys diaries: Koulupojan päiväkirjat ? Wikipedia ..And a decent dictionary on the net: Sanakirja.org - Ilmainen sanakirja. Englanti, suomi, ruotsi jne. nettisanakirja |

Whatever you do do NOT watch "the man without a past" (Mies vailla menneisyyttä). Unless you want to cringe or laugh even though it's not a comedy - it has to be one of the worst films I've ever seen
![]() But a quality Finnish film that I really enjoyed, created a professional atmosphere and had good acting by people you could relate to is Rukajarven Tie, the English title being Ambush. Great film about the winter war. I'd like to know some more quality Finnish films, war films or films that have a surreal or alternative feel to them..? |

I suppose yes, it comes down to personal taste, but it was not the content or the topic I disliked, it's just the bad acting which I don't really think can be classified as too Finnish because Rukajarven Tie was excellently acted.

I liked the silent scenes were even though no words were spoken, you could still sense the feelings of the actors. Rukajarven tie was set during the continuation war. |

And I didn't realise that the other film was set during the continuation war, thanks for that. |
