ai kiva!
mun äidinkieli on ranska, mut puhun englantiakin aika hyvin.

that's nice you have contact with a family there!
I could probably live with my friend's family in Turku, but I don't choose where I live, since I am going with an organism called AFS. But at least I have someone to practice finnish with in Montreal!

Aye, if you learn swedish, you will understand norwegian and danish too. Same with dutch... I studied saksaa for 4 years and I understand written dutch.

it's true that norwegian, danish and swedish are quite alike. it's like a mix between german and english!
I guess that if I knew how to speak german, it'd be easier for me to learn swedish and norwegian..
my ancestors are actually norwegian. so myabe that's why I do understand :]

I know Swedish and have just started to study German and Norwegian. German is a bit difficult with its three genders and four cases, though it does have many words which as similar to Swedish.

As for Norwegian, I understand most of it. It looks like a dialect of Swedish, so learning goes very quickly.

I was wondering that.
A friend of mine lives in Sweden, and he told me once that he can understand Norwegian and danish as well, but a Norwegian friend who lives here in Chile told me that this isn't right.

what could you say about it? I don't understand :S
