Just that lads, anyone likes football over here?
I think in Finland Hockey is the most important sport, but they also have some great players around the world, as Jari Litmanen (The greatest, he played in Ajax Amsterdam, Liverpool FC, and now he's in Fulham) Sami Hyypiä (a lot of times chosen as "the best finn footballer", he played in Willem II [Netherlands] and then in Liverpool FC from 99' til now, and my favourite player), Mika Väyrynen (Hereenven, PSV Eindhoven, Netherlands), Mikael Förssell (England, I'm not sure what team) and a couple of good goalkeepers as Anti Niemi and Jussi Jääskelainen (Bolton Wanderers, England). I love football, so, is anoyne here to share the passion of football? :P Greetings!

1 more football fan here!
I have supported Liverpool and my home country Ireland all my life. I've been to Anfield only once I'm ashamed to say. I did get to see Liverpool play Arsenal again at Highbury Park. I've been a pub chair fan most of the time. Not much interest in Euro 2008 when your home nation isn't playing. I have a feeling Germany might win it though. I think they won their first World Cup in Switzerland. They should have more fans there than even the host nations i reckon. I also feel that Germany got a big moral boost during the last World cup where the German flag was once again waved and displayed with pride for all the right reasons. I don't think the Italians are what they were, although while they have that warrior Gattuso in the team you can never write them off. I think the Nederlands might surprise a few people, I've always liked the Dutch because of the way they once played back in the seventies with their maestro Johan Cryyff (hope I haven't mis-spelt that). Although, they have played far from the beautiful game in more recent years. It's a hard one to call. I just wish Ireland could find a few good players and get back in the competitions. It needs a touch of green. I miss the parties we had back in the 90's They were Happy Days alright!I was following Finland in the qualifiers, hoping that they would make it. It's a shame that the great Sami Hyypia is missing the finals, I doubt if we'll ever see him do for his country what he has done with Liverpool. I honestly think Finland could have made a good impact on Euro 2008. Unfortunatly the Portugese got the better of them. It was an awful game which I thought the Finns deserved to win. I didn't like the way the Portugese conducted their game. They won't be getting any support from me in Euro 2008. Anyway, as you can see, this Irishman likes his soccer, even though it's a secondary sport back in Ireland. Enjoy Euro 2008 everybody!

I could be interested. Some of the Champions League matches can start a bit late in the evenings over here in Finland with the time difference. Could be cool to meet up with fellow Reds for a Premiership tie and a brew the odd Saturday afternoon. |
