Default The LFC Official thread

Hey mates.
Well, let's talk here about our passion in common: Liverpool Football Club

Some history to start:

Liverpool FC was founded in 1892 by John Houlding, the owner of the grounds of Anfield. The very first title came in 1892, it was the Lancashire leage title.

Then the team started to win reputation in England, and the first league was won in 1901. After that one, 17 more were following in the 116 years of the history of the club.

In the international scenario, the first one came in 1973, the UEFA Cup, under the Bill Shankly's orders and with a great team leaded by Tommy Smith and followed by Kevin Keegan, Stevie Heighway, Ian Callaghan and John Toshack LFC beat down Borussia M'gladbach (Germany) and won its first international tournament.

Then, two european cups were won, in 77 (Rome) and 78 (Wembley), and time before in 81 (Paris) and 84 (Rome again). The last one -so far- came in 2005, after a breathtaking match against AC Milan.

Honours:
18 English Leagues.
7 FA Cups
7 League Cups
15 Community Shields.
5 European Cups
3 UEFA Cups

Great Coaches:

Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Kenny Dalglish, Gerrard Houllier, Rafa Benítez...

Great Players (In no order):

Kevin Keegan, John Toshack, Stevie Heighway, Ian Callaghan, Ian Rush, Kenny 'King' Dalglish, Ron Yeats, Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson, Alan Hansen, Steve Macmanaman, Robbie 'God' Fowler, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Fernando Torres...

Ok mates, let's make this a great thread!

Liverpool FC 1:0 Tranmere Rovers

First pre-season match by the reds, with just one goal by Yossi Benayoun (43')
Did anyone watch it?

It was a bit boring for me, but it´s just a pre-season match :P

Default Luzern match

Didi anyone see the Luzern match yesterday? New young striker looks good. Voronin scored his traditional pre-season brilliant goal, soon to be followed by 3 in the regular season Leto looked great but we'll sell him now we can't have Barry and Keane cos Juve don't want Alonso any more. I'd rather have Keane but not for €20m.

What do you think?

Pretty good match mate.

Great goal by Voronin, I hope he can score more than 4 or 5 goals this season, even though Rafa doesn't give him much chances to play.

About Dossena, so far so good.

and finally, about the Xabi Alonso issue, I wouldn't sell him. We got him and Mascherano, so, why buy Barry? :P

Robbie Keane signs for Liverpool on an about 20M transfer

Nice one, but I think he's too expensive, don't you think that? he's 28 :O

He's a good buy Keane but 20m is pretty expensive I agree. Still, if he scores 15 and sets up 20 for Torres I'll be happy. I'm glad Barry deal looks off as I'd rather keep Alonso anyway.
Anyway, looking forward to the season even if Adidas have designed the most disgusting away kits (grey and sea green) Where did the designers go to design school

Sure he is.

Now I see a more consistent team, we've got back Agger (although I rather Hyypiä ) and also Deggen and Dossena look good both. We've have a couple of top class defensive midlfielders, Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, a fighter as Kuyt, and the best midfielder in the world: Steven Gerrard. No comments for Torres
