What will be your major, in other words what are you going to study at these polytechnics... IT, management, humanism, design, nursing, marketing, etc etc.... they all have different books to read, essays/diff documents/work to submit before the entrance exam. Some even require you to have worked as a trainee in a place related to your field of studies. Most schools have their own sites online and if you google "pääsykoekirjat"+the school you are bound to find out more. Entrance exams to polytechnics are mainly aptitude tests which test the applicants' motivation to that particular field and how suitable this person would be to work in that profession. Good luck with your tests

Actually a friend of a friend started at Helia in Helsinki last year taking Business Management. She said that at the entrance exam they had to write an essay, do some mathematics and have a group work/discussion which was monitored all the time.
If I'm honest that exam could not have been very difficult if she got in She is not very brilliant in that respect and what I've heard she doesn't seem to be very keen on studying, just trying to struggle through and graduate one day. As you know, if you want to work and get somewhat of a "decent" job in this country, you need to have some good reports or diplomas to show too.And if you are not a native English speaker they have a language test too. She is from the UK so she didn't have to take it. |

Instead of asking people here in this forum, why not contact the university direct - that is what they even urge people to do. That way you get correct answers. To do this for Oulu University, please mail your questions to: International Relations international.office@oulu.fi I bet you have already been at the universities pages but it not, pls do so. Good luck! |
