Default Visit Lapland in the winter

I'd recommend winter. There's not many places these days where you still can find a real winter with frozen lakes, loads of clean snow and roads which are NOT covered with salt! The scenary can be spectacular!

The second best time would be the autumn with all different colours blending to each other so beautifully and with such perfect harmony.

If you like the big itikka, the local blood hunting moskitos, then you need to visit the place in the summer. Done it, seen it - didn't like and won't do it again

Midsummer in Ivalo was also quite an experience. We had had leaves in the trees in the south for over a month but in the north you couldn't even see little buds in the trees. Summer comes so late to the north so be prepared with warm clothes if you decide to go and see the "northern summer". When I was there the temperature was freezing cold close to +1C... and that was MIDSUMMER!

I wouldn't recommend end of April, it's usually time when snow is melting away. Best time in my opinion is winter like BF63 said. Around late February to early April. Or in the summer when the sun won't settle
