Thread: Who is working in Finland as Au Pair,what is your feelings to hostfamily?

I am here 17 days, I live in very strange family

Oh, but families can be strange. And, if it's not a matter of either party being strange, it can be a question of compatibility, chemistry...
In what way is this host-family strange? Do share.

yea, it happens alot, how long you have to stay with them?

did they give you your own room? coz I heard much worse stories!

You absolutly right, I expected to find real finish family (another mentality), real friend who are communicate,to spend free time together,to show traditionals & customs of this country, but they are rude, children hit me and shout at me. They never listen to me, do all they want (they are very spoilt children).
I am not the member of this family (BUT I HAVE MY OWN ROOM , thank goodness !!! ), they never invite me for dinner, we never have a talk about different things (expect they children), we don't go anywhere, so I have hard work, work, work......
Feel I am servant, they never say "good job"; only "it is not good, this is bad & etc."
My contract for 1 year. (I want to change family)

changing family isn't that easy, since many others are looking for first family!

but in the meanwhile you should take it easy, and in your free time I can show you many nice places...i'll send u pm

Hm, sorry to hear that.

Try talking to the family and tell them what your expectations are and how things would be better, in your opinion. If you feel that you don't get anywhere with them, you can change the family.
That contract that you have can be canceled if one side is unsatisfied with things, if one feels that his/her dignity rights are not respected (as an employee and as well as a human being).

So, if things don't change, you can look for another family any time on:

Remember that you are not forced to stay for a year in these conditions! Don't be afraid to change the family if necessary. (give them some time in advance, though, to find someone else)

All people adviced me to have a talk with family. I have done.
I could say, the situation has changed, but the time has not yet expired (we were talking in Friday), Now I am checking the situation.
