Hi!
My name is Gitau and I am searching for a summer job.I am urgently in need of any type of summer Job.I am a master's engineering student in Electronics computers and Telecommunications.I live in Portugal and I have a portuguese residency visa. I am originally from Kenya and I speak English,Portuguese, spanish and some basic French. I am looking for any type of summer Job.I will be free from July to the middle of september more or less giving me 2 months and some weeks of holiday. Can anyone help me?Does anybody know people or connect me or advice me?I do not want to embark on a journey to Finland without knowing anyone or without any guide or advice. I am sure I would be of great help and assistance given my knowledge of languages and technical acumen.I also have great public relation skills. I am hoping for a positive response. Thank you |

I am also looking for a job. It can be a summer job or a longer job.
I am a Russian/Canadian citizen living in Tampere. My student permit is close to expiry, so all job offers will be very welcome! By profession I am a translator (English, French, Swedish, Russian), but in Finland I am looking for any job with a permit, e.g. cleaning. You can see my CV in 5 languages on ·· Jurij Belov > Yrke ·· Thank you. Last edited by ybelov; 4th-July-2008 at 08:45 PM. Reason: corrected a spelling error |

You are doing good on the language department except for one, which is missing. That's the one most foreigners need to get a job here... even as a cleaner. Can you guess? Yes, it's that one thing discussed here several times. Correct - Finnish language! Good luck with the job hunt to all of you

Can you give an example? Unfortunately, I am not a European citizen, and I can be hired only if there are no locals for a particular job. I am a translator, but who needs a translator in Finland without good Finnish skills? My permit will expire in 3 weeks. Now, any job for me is better than no job.

If you are a translator, then I would choose a country where you are fluent in the language of the country. All translator jobs I have seen so far here in Finland were always related with Finnish. Except Software testing jobs where they test a software in a specific language.

So far I first went to a new country and then became fluent in its language.
I went to Sweden and learned Swedish there. Then I went to live in Québec and learned French. Now I am in Finland. The Finnish language is a hard nut to crack, but I'll learn it if I stay here long enough. For me it would be easier to find work in Sweden, but, as far as I know, it's almost impossible to get permanent residence there. |
