Ok, another stupid question
We are also thinking to move to Finland. My husband is an IT engineer, now specializing in MQ Websphere things and working for an IBM project. He does not speak any Finnish, but he is fluent in English. I have studied for a teacher and translator, but I guess none will take me there for a teacher or translator , so I am looking for something for him. We are thinking to make the move in 2009 or 2010 (that depends on some things we have to arrange here).
When do you think we should start looking? Or we are already late![]()

If you want to move to Finland, I would really make sure before that either you or your husband have a job here. Of course it is easier to look for something if you are already here but honestly in case of Finland I would find it a bit risky especially if both of you can't speak the language or at least having some references from anybody here in Finland.
I would never move without a sure job, it is too expensive to move for nothing
That is why I asked when we should start looking, if we want to come at earliest possible october 2009...
Is it useful to place our cvs in some kind of sites?
And what I was thinking - in half of the articles it is written that there is shortage on labour and on the other half - there is no work
I am learning the language now.I went to a basic course, which I hope to continue after the summer vacation.

well there are jobs which usually nobody wants to do or you are lucky and get a job in one of the few international companies.
You should contact the companies directly and start looking as soon as possible. Or try to find a Business Idea![]()

Hej, people, I moved to Finland just three days ago. I know, it will be very difficult in the beginning for me here, because me neither speak Finnish language! But don't think, that it's Finland's fault, that you can not find any work here without the language and you can not make any finnish friends here! In every country is the same. I know what I say. Before moving here I lived for almost 4 years in Germany (I am Lithuanian). The good thing - I can speak German very well (and before moving to Germany I could speak quait well). BUT I really had difficulties to find some German friends! And I know, that without German language you could not find any work in Germany too. IF you find (I knew some foreigners working in one big company there - they did'n speak German) - you will have difficulties to integrate yourself in an German team.
So, I think, the same situation is here in Finnland as well. It is hard, but I (and you!) have to learn Finnish language, if I (you) want to live in this country! The language opens many many ways.... People, don't give up!![]()

I know, it will! I studied Finnish two semesters long and still I can say just really basic sentences - the language is not the easiest one... BUT I have no choice, if I want to stay here...
Does somebody know, where in Turku I can find some intensive Finnish language courses?![]()
