I presume that the scourge of racism is in Finland just as much as anywhere else.

I think it depends on many factors.
I have heard often that in scandinavia, people thought that the "better" people were rated on this scale:
1) people from their own country
2) Scandinavians from other Scandinavians countries
3) Europeans
4) North Americans
5) the rest of the world.
6) americans (no, I just added that, because from what I have experienced, Finns really do not like much americans.)

but I guess it really depends of the attitude you have toward integration of the culture. if for exemple, Ali or T_Bag are really motivated, try the best they can to learn the language and use it in everyday life situations, well they are most likely to be respected more than other foreigners.
If you are open to their culture and respect it, and try to practice it, you sure will be more welcomed than anyone.
I remember buying a book at the stockmann bookstore, and the cashier was surprised I spoke to her in Finnish. she knew after speaking a bit that I was a foreigner, but she was so excited about hearing a foreigner speak finnish that she spoke to me for about 15 minutes. that was a bit creepy to see a Finn speak that much, but that made her really happy.

Well I got that Finns are not interested in none blond people (!?)
but you know I have a half blood friend (Russian -Iranian) she has brown eyes with light brown hair & she used to live in finland for 5 years. she told me :
first if any teachers asked me "where are you from?" I replied "Russia" they were so mean to me but once I told a teacher "my dad is iranian" & suddenly she acted better to me!

but well I think its from historical problems between Russia & Finland!& maybe they prefer Persians to Russians ,,, But in my opinion if you act nice & follow the culture they wont be so racist ...
