Should foreign students pay for University education in Finland...
Yes!
No!
Depends if Finns have to pay in the other country
Should foreign students pay for University education in Finland...
Yes they should, it dosnt appear fair if we the taxpayer and also the government pays for these people to come here and get free degrees at uni and then bugger off back to their country. Where we will then get no benefit from this.
I think it depends...if those people come from a poor country it could also help to develop their country which would also have a positive impact on Finland or EU.
Yes. I just read from HS that a typical university education costs apprx. 44 000 euros to Finnish society.
In the UK oversea students have to pay around 13.000 Pounds per year
If they come from a poor country then still shouldnt be free however they must pay a small percentage towards the costs of the uni fees.
Education should be free anyway... In Austria for instance Austrians and citizens from the European Union don't have to pay for their university education (any more).. I think it should be the same in whole EU, so also in Finland...
In england you still have to pay fees. And i dont think its very fair tbh to pay for something that we might not get any gain from.
hmm I would say yes, because it is the finns that ends up paying for the foreigners. The only moment I think is okay for a foreigner not to pay, is when there is a bilateral agreement with another University from another country, and in the terms, it is said that the students don't have to pay the fees.
so this way, both will pay. i.e. my university has an agreement with Oulu, wich means a finn that comes here doesn't pay, and a quebecer that goes to Oulu doesn't pay tuition. in both cases, the citizens pay for the foreigner, but it is fair, because both parties are paying. I don't know if that is logical.. but anyway.
